In this interview with Katherine Hughes (the project manager of the Caerphilly Miners Community Centre) we learn of the inspiring effort she and her team have made to adapt to the challenges of the pandemic. Subtitles are included.
This interview was conducted by Caitlin as part of her university assignment in speaking with a “change maker.” The shared audio is a longer cut of her original submission to add context and more comprehensive answers. The aim was to share the inspiration she felt after taking to Katherine.
Originally, this project had derived from a university assignment in which I had to produce a 3 minute interview with a “change maker.”
I was able to get in contact with Katherine and we set up a Zoom meeting for the interview as the coronavirus pandemic meant that we couldn’t meet in person. We ended up speaking for 25 minutes as her answers to my questions were detailed and I was intrigued by what she had to say.
As mentioned in the final piece, I was so inspired by what I heard that I knew I wanted to do a separate edit for Of Social Creatures. Sharing positive stories is important to me.
It took a little while to edit both versions but I was pleased with the final outcome and relieved that Katherine herself was too! Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Caerphilly Miners Community Centre with their own projects and I’m grateful for that experience.
Oh, and I got a first in my assignment!
